Turning presentations into conversations

On the surface, Swipe is a presentation tool but at its core is communication. With Swipe, you turn your presentations into conversations.

As a two-way process, communication always consists of a giver and a receiver, with information being exchanged. Bad communication is when information bounces off. Good communication is when information is absorbed and understood. You always want to see the bigger picture, because when it’s clear to you, then it’s also clear to the other person.

Because for us, that’s important: helping the other side to understand. A presentation is pointless if no one gets it. We’re not here just to improve the way you talk to people; we’re changing it for the better by helping them talk back to you too.

“Death by PowerPoint” is not about ugly slides, it’s about bad communication. Slides are there to show but it’s up to you as the presenter to explain. Presentations are stressful because the pressure is on you, the presenter. You’re standing in front of people and talking at them. You don’t know what they know, you don’t know who they are, you don’t know if they’re actually engaged by what you’re saying. The core of the problem is a lack of connection, a static one-way experience. Conversations are never stressful and we’re on a mission to make presentations feel the same.

Presenting for us is interactive; we don’t agree with talking at people, but talking with people. Remember, the voice does not belong solely to the presenter, but the audience too. You can use our polls as a way to bridge the gap found in ordinary presentations. Conversations can happen no matter where the audience is, in the same room or across the globe.

What you want to say can be said to anyone on any device, anywhere in the world by sharing a simple link. Ubiquity is extremely important to us, and it’s becoming more and more important to you too. We work hard to make it so intuitive that it’s almost second nature. The technology gets out of your way. What stands out is your content. What stands out is your message and, with Swipe, you can talk to your audience and know what their message is too.

Exciting times are ahead for Swipe and here’s what’s been happening:

  • We’re about to launch a whole new version of Swipe that we can’t wait to show you!
  • Beginnings are the best, don’t you think? I’ve just joined Swipe as Head of Community, with this being the first of many blog posts.
  • We’re bigger, faster and better.
  • We’ve also moved into a new office situated in colorful South East London.
